EDITORIAL
story submission with couple Donna & Estefanía, for C-Heads Magazine's print edition (2025)
During my stay in a camper van on a farm in the south of the Netherlands, I photographed Donna and Estefanía — whose love seemed to light up even the dimmest autumn day. We began at dusk, with the last available light. Don & Es jumped into a rain puddle, splashing and laughing with childlike joy. They held hands and played like no one was watching. By the end, they were soaked through despite wearing rain boots.
At sunrise, I captured a quieter moment: the two of them sharing a bath on the farm, with a view over the fields and autumn trees outside. They blew bubbles at each other and hummed classics such as At Last by Etta James. The scene felt as tender as the love they radiated.
shooting scenes as vulnerable, personal and intimate as these can be both intimidating and honourable as a photographer

I tried to capture this couple’s chemistry as they would recognize it, while framing a story that feels memorable, true and nostalgic for me as well — even though I’m not personally involved in their lives. I try to prepare moments and scenes that encourage personality to show through, such as a rain puddle and a bath with lots of soap foam. Photographs in which the subject feels free to give themselves and give the story their own twist will forever be close to my heart. My favourite work always exists in spontaneity, improvisation and naturalness.
